Our commentary is out in Diabetes!
• MODY panels are undergoing refinement in the population-scale genetics era.
• We discuss how the Exeter team provides strong evidence for NEUROD1 and PDX1, but not for APPL1 or WFS1, using data from UK Biobank and gnomAD.

I see lots of patients with obesity who develop heart attacks. Often they have normal cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose levels are normal.

So why do they get heart attacks?

We identified endotrophin as a mechanism whereby obesity causes heart disease. 🧵

Integrative proteogenomic analysis identifies COL6A3-derived endotrophin as a mediator of the effect of obesity on coronary artery disease - Nature Genetics
Two-step Mendelian randomization, combined with multiple layers of omics evidence, implicates COL6A3-derived endotrophin as a mediator of coronary artery disease risk in the context of obesity.
