It takes about 40 years after the discovery of the Americas for the Pope (Paul III) to aknowledge that its indigenous peoples are human beings with souls (Sublimiss deus). The Pope threatens to excommunicate anyone who would enslave them, but quickly backs down under pressure from the Spanish crown.

I retook the book "Daimonic Reality" by Patrick Harpur after weeks of abandon it, and in the chapter about daimonic dogs (supernatural apparitions of dog-like creatures), I'm reading about sometimes these dogs can act as guardians or protectors, then I remember an episode from my youth
