I think that’s enough of raw-dogging life, going forward I’m leaning heavily into LSD.

Saturday 11/8 is the anniversary of the passing of James Booker. Dr. John called him "the best black, gay, one-eyed junkie piano genius New Orleans has ever produced." On the next Crescent City Connection: an astounding hour of Booker. Saturday at 10am on the Rock'n'Soul stream!

Cops are so weird. They are generally the kind of guys who hated hall monitors in school who grew up to be professional hall monitors.

Vinyl reckoning: Jack DeJohnette “New Directions” (ECM/WB), 1978. DeJohnette, John Abercrombie, Lester Bowie, and Eddie Gomez. My favorite record of DeJohnette as a leader. #JazzSky

My Rushmore status RIP
RIP to one of the all-time greats... Jack DeJohnette has passed away at age 83. The legendary drummer is pictured here at the September 24, 1965 recording session for Jackie McLean's "Jacknife," which marked his first appearance on a Blue Note record.
