The new Geologist album is a breakthrough, achieving that perfect balance of light and shade. It'll be fascinating to watch if it will be as revelatory for the group sound of Animal Collective as Panda Bear's Person Pitch was in the mid '00s.

Cat Power :: What Would the Community Think at 30

aquariumdrunkard.com/2026/02/06/c...

Cat Power's Matador debut captures the wild, raw, unfiltered power of Marshall’s art, an unpredictable electricity that runs through the songs, buzzing and fizzing and threatening explosion at any time.

Rich Ruth - last night in Asheville.

Some of their new material featuring the bari sax sounds like Morphine! Not so much Morphine in this clip, but transcendent stuff all around.

I'm fascinated and charmed by the Taper's Choice creation myth story in which the members set out to form a jamband. In advance of their Asheville show on Wednesday, I spoke with the band's uber-talented keyboardist Zach Tenorio for Asheville Stages:

As usual, @jochenmarkhorst.bsky.social digs as deep as he can and, this time, finds roots connecting Dylan and Terry Allen. He also cites my piece exploring a very specific Dylan-Allen link:
