1) the quality of your paint brushes matters. A lot.
2) sweat equity is important. The more you learn to do for yourself the more money you can save & put into things you can’t do yourself.
3) Home Depot has free classes to teach you how to do a lot
4) your home holds energy; store up good the stuff

If done right (I’ll upload photos) it doesn’t look cheap like a sheet or something it looks nice. Really nice. Most importantly it opens up more places you can wheel without help or pinching your fingers. They also have stabilizer bars to help transfers that aren’t just on walls. More freedom

They have them in many colors, there are ways to make the room bigger using window treatments & aside from saving money on electricity it ties the room together. Wheelchair users? Also works better than a door. You can wheel through easier if you remove the door & use one of those instead.

If you have an open floor plan using a blackout curtain (they’re under “blackout doors”) or a magnetic door you will trap the heat or cold in the small area you occupy the most. Bedroom, living room, the archway or whatever just needs that & then you’re perfect. Same with window treatments overall

Bidets that are like little showers are amazing. Not just for regular but think about how much more clean I feel during my periods (perimenopause man.) we have the extra long hose that can be used to do many things like spray the toilet after you go. Everything is cleaner. Sprayer is superior.

@jjorbles.bsky.social why did you do all of that before work?”
@sarcasticbarbie.bsky.social wanted it.”

That’s my man

Alt: Cardi B with two ponytails on top and the rest down in a split sprout with mostly platinum and some light and hot pink highlight and undercolor is emotional saying “i got the best husband ever.”

Bathroom tile & bidet completed. Loctite & tape caulk as well as caulk caulk grouting etc today, painting to finish self rooms small leftovers & painting in here. It will be blarney stone green with gold & espresso. Wish us luck dear viewer. I found the perfect meme art to go next to an original.

In the library study even his mancave or yeen den I love that we have art from independent artists a mural I painted myself aboriginal & Native American art, & a small authentic Picasso then a painting of our dog that looks like dega did it. Or the starry night with the tardis in it. It’s fun.

So people are like “I love this piece it’s so amazing blah blah and this piece. It’s… well it’s a 2 canvas spread… uuuuh…”
It’s in our California closet and I have more room for my wheelchair as well as for anyone who has to go through it to our master if I’m bedridden or whatever.

@jjorbles.bsky.social I are renovating/remodeling (our dream home is ours. No mortgage means HELL YA BABY) and I have a massive fondness for throwing in legitimate looking artwork into the curated art my mum has given me or I’ve purchased like original Schluz, Peter max, Waylin, Fergo.

Fell sleep to my playlist with the fully ramblomatic and zero punctuation only to wake up in the middle of the night to @yahtzeecroshaw.bsky.social doing some weird hilarious plug for JAM the audiobook & felt like it wasn’t a fever dream but couldn’t find it at first so I sounded insane.

In honoring the start of Black History Month, this James Baldwin quote kept coming to mind

Do you also think it represents history repeating itself today?

Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. It’s about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future.

Hollering about anything done in the past, from Obama to Jackson, is irrelevant. We know what is happening NOW. You cannot use past behaviors to justify current crimes against humanity. “Well so & so did bad things!” Ok, anyway back to why YOU are doing bad things. The current situation needs fixed

Being disabled in itself is enough. We don’t have to look & express active agony & misery or we aren’t disabled. We don’t have to be having awful days all of the time to justify needing to rest, assistive devices for medication. Do not tear your body up because some NPC expects that if you. Fuck em
February 1, 2026 at 8:48 PM
I also installed a bidet & repaired the fireplace thingy so you could say I’m pretty good at renovations once I wheel myself into position. Granted anything requiring use of one’s legs requires @jjorbles.bsky.social to do it and that is absolutely ok. Don’t feel guilty for being disabled.

Had to edit @jjorbles.bsky.social out of some pics but you can see how far it’s come, we have so little left to do it’s a bloody relief. Truly. The before & after shows the sweat equity we put in. But honestly the little things like window treatment & small areas to paint are easy to knock out

Remember that if you use a laundry service, or any regular “gig” service, there are people behind those names. Building connection, seeing them as people, leaving thank you cards, these are vital to building a network. This week on “thriving in dystopia” we’re addressing ways to build your network

That’s enough scrolling.. If you actually talk to a previous MAGAT, many are done. The ones I’ve had limited forced interaction with are, anyway. 1/3 are voting blue, 2/3 don’t go by parties anymore as republican isn’t what it “used to be.” (Depends on how deep the rot settled in, results may vary)
President Epstein just told Americans they can't have guns.

We are our own savior. We are given free will. There is nothing that forces us to be humanitarian, to be kind, be cruel, to accept the turning of the wheel. When we accept our identity as both the temple & the divinity dwelling within, the spark within all of us that connects & individuates, nirvana
January 27, 2026 at 12:40 AM
Is it better to sit with the scraps of decayed, perverted, shambling reflections of what once was beautiful, flush with life, than to radically accept the turning of the great wheel? Is it better to cling to an ideology that wounds ignoring new knowledge out of insecurity or fear at all cost?

By refusing to allow the beauty of a fading to birth something anew, all trapped within this denial are rotted. Corrupted. This is a theme Miyazaki weaves throughout these games in a time where we can literally see these behaviors in people in our lives. Caught up in traumas, fears, stagnant.
January 27, 2026 at 12:40 AM
This fear of moving forward of allowing the stars to pass overhead, allowing a flame to go out, allowing night to come then fade as a new age begins, this fear corrupts & rots the very things they don’t want to let go. By refusing to allow the natural order the beloved becomes perverted, blighted.
January 27, 2026 at 12:40 AM
Dark Souls have a very clear importance placed on souls, on the importance of accepting the end so a new beginning may emerge without applying any labels using relative morality. Every game has a theme of forcing ones will to prevent the inevitable passing of an age. The fear of letting go.
