I’m so saddened by the loss of Alice Wong, truly one of the good ones, to whom community-building came naturally. A great writer, activist, and person. bsky.app/profile/sesm...
‘Death remains my intimate shadow partner. It has been with me since birth, always hovering close by. I understand one day we will finally waltz together into the ether. I hope when that time comes, I die with the satisfaction of a life well-lived, unapologetic, joyful, & full of love.’

He is remembered as a “Friends star,” but Matthew Perry wanted his legacy to be helping others. Matthew Perry House is making that happen, hosting a star-studded fundraiser with @makemusicmatter.bsky.social tonight. @jeyantvo.bsky.social spoke with Perry’s sister Caitlin Morrison.

(Snarky about the study involving "cognitive rehabilitation." Not about @thesicktimes.org.)
Was going to say something snarky about this part: "The RECOVER-NEURO clinical trial found that 'cognitive rehabilitation' failed in treating Long COVID." But then saw this.

Affinity for breakfast, fine. But I could have told them cheese was not protective.

"But even through my twenties, even when I had the chance, I would plunk myself down wherever two roads diverged in a yellow wood. Plunk myself down and wait for Later."

The longer you make yourself wait, the easier the waiting gets — until missing out is a matter of inertia.

"I have allowed myself to lead this little life, when inside me there was so much more. And it's all gone unused. And now it never will be. Why do we get all this life if we don't ever use it? Why do we get all these feelings and dreams and hopes if we don't ever use them?" RIP Pauline Collins.

He has no earthly idea what happened last night or why I’m sad and hungover this morning, which makes me less sad (if no less hungover).

Every single play over the last 30 minutes of this game has had the same vibe as the "two people wrestling for a gun and then it fires and you don't know who was shot" movie trope.

What I wrote to my father earlier today: "Sort of an extension of my rationalization for the endless game of the other evening: if we go down, let's do it while creating a classic!"

Text from my sister just now: "It is also probably the best game 7 in memory, right? Time to rationalize, right?"

I like reading stuff by Nat Basen. I will read anything about the Blue Jays. So this worked out nicely for me:
"The team has adopted a selfless mindset... a complete reversal of the story of the Blue Jays teams that came before — the kind of development that can only come to those who know the end of every other available path."
How this Blue Jays playoff run was built on failure | TVO Today
The team’s selfless approach has won them both fans and games. They came by it the hard way.
