Housing Secretary Scott Turner wants to build-baby-build. But so far his tenure at HUD has looked more like slash-slash-slash — with plunging numbers for staff, grants and proposed funding.

This construction project was on time and on budget. Then came ICE.

ben's book breaks a lot of new ground and adds more history and texture to the "abundance"-y conversation around why American cities got so stuck, and what it would really take to make them better!
American cities have stagnated. Residential neighborhoods, transportation systems, and commercial districts have changed little in 50+ years.

My new book, "The Unfinished Metropolis," explores how that happened — and how to fix it.
