Some people gave me a lot of shit for spending the past 200+ days trying to learn basic Japanese before my first Japan trip, but I’m very proud that I was able to successfully translate interactions between my friend and our barista (who didn’t speak English at all) at a coffee shop in Suginami. 🙂

Took a Shinkansen over to Osaka. Immediately went to an unagi restaurant that has been cooking up eel for 300+ years.

Also my first time trying kimosui soup! And yes, it was all very delicious and worth it.

will taeheung kim, a korean american scientist and doctoral candidate with a green card, is still being detained by ICE. he's been in detention since July 21, first at SFO for over a week and then in various ICE facilities all over the country.

Not only am I convinced that the same people complaining about others (specifically Zohran Mamdani) eating food with their hands are just telling us how much they really do not wash their own hands... but I'm convinced they're the same people who don't believe you need to wash your legs either.

Working from NYC for a bit is always fun. Feels weird to be returning to Minneapolis today, but can’t think of a better way to end my trip than with a sold out Sleep Token show in Brooklyn. 🖤
