Fab to see the regs laid today to ban plastic in single use wet wipes!

Our @mcsuk.bsky.social volunteers have picked up thousands from Scottish beaches and across the UK!

This will help wet wipe free beaches but also remember to only flush the three pees - pee, poo and toilet paper!

At Council today Lib Dems asked that Edinburgh Council @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social consider moving the hugely popular travel and helpdesk accounts over from X to Bluesky. Hope this can happen soon!

Devastated. Kirsty was a wonderful human being, a bright star and an inspiration as a successful woman in politics. She was unfailingly kind and supportive and I’ll forever cherish the meandering chats about politics, the importance of science and life in general on her visits to Edinburgh.
We’re heartbroken to hear of the passing of Kirsty Duncan.

Kirsty was a passionate Member of Parliament and Minister, a champion for science, and deeply committed to serving others.

It's a tremendous loss, and our thoughts are with her loved ones at this time.

This whole saga is heartbreaking. When your child is diagnosed with cancer, as a parent you spend EVERY waking minute trying to stop them from getting an infection. The hospital should be the safest place to be for these kids and that it wasn’t is horrifying, especially if people knew this 💔

Thanks so much @seascotland.bsky.social for giving me a chance to talk about my love of the ocean and how we should be looking after our local marine spaces! 🌊
Councillor Sanne Dijkstra-Downie from Liberal Democrats highlights they want science led and supported by coastal communities. They have to have a stake and a say in what happens - government should work with and not against communities empowering them to be stewards of their own marine environment.

This record of failure shows water regulation in our country is broken.

Water companies are getting away with polluting our rivers on an industrial scale and face little more than a slap on the wrist.

Unbelievable that bottom trawling is still allowed in the UK’s marine protected areas. It’s extremely destructive for marine life and should be banned in all MPAs #ocean www.theguardian.com/environment/...

And the embarrassment that is current #Dutchpolitics continues as the Govt falls because Wilders’ colleagues don’t want to implement his illegal and unworkable migration proposals.

Guess what - right-wing populists making promises they cannot keep and then blaming others for their failure 🤷‍♀️

Ten years on, we still feel the loss of Charles Kennedy.

Charles was principled, kind and possessed an unmatched talent for connecting with people - he was a great friend and an outstanding leader.

I know he would have been so proud to see his old seat back in Lib Dem hands.

The ban on disposable vapes starts today. Good news for our environment and, hopefully, the start of a turnaround on vaping numbers among young teenagers. Thanks to everyone who made this happen, not least @lesswastelaura.bsky.social who campaigned for this tirelessly. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Disposable vapes ban begins - but will teens quit?
Retailers will no longer be able to sell single-use vapes as new laws come into force across the UK.
