Finished "THE CORPSE WALKER" by Liao Yiwu last night. Brutal stories of government oppression was maybe not the best choice right now given everything, BUT -- wow, what a book.

Over the weekend my community raised nearly $40,000 to help families, in addition to collecting huge quantities of food and hygiene products and toys/games. I am so, so proud to be Minnesotan and of the (mostly) women in my city.

Did I mention that large portions of MN’s population are in hiding right now? Kids are missing school. Adults can’t go out to work. People aren’t able to buy food or pay rent, and mutual aid is all keeping everyone going. We keep us safe, on our own, and people are being shot in the street for it

Last night I finished ORGAN MEATS by K-Ming Chang. A bit too much for me, but beautifully written. @worstmillennial.bsky.social I kept thinking you might enjoy it because of its light horror-ness.

Tonight instead of spiraling and doomscrolling I will do a craft with my son and read my book. Tomorrow I will focus on work. And Friday I will grocery shop for my community. Do what you can however you can.

My 7yo announced that he would NEVER learn to drive.

Me: "That's fine, but you don't have to decide that right now. You might change your mind one day. Like if you have a child who needs a ride to school!" (what we were doing)

5yo: "WHOA whoa whoa. HE can't have a baby. He doesn't have a VULVA."
