Sigh. Ollie Glover’s Railway Bill amendments - for passenger growth targets and a rolling programme of electrification - were spot on (constructive, well informed, necessary), and transport minister Keir Mather’s response on rejecting them is terrible (meaningless, irrelevant, worrying)
Railways Bill: passenger target and rolling electrification programme amendments rejected
Opposition MPs' attempts to add new clauses for Great British Railways to abide by fail.

Great British Railways NEEDS a rolling electrification programme.

Sure, cutting carbon emissions is nice and needed, but this is about cutting fuel and maintenance costs and bringing our railways into the 21st century.

The fact that <40% of our railways are electrified is a national disgrace.

go onnnnnn verge
ICE, CBP, and Border Patrol have proven themselves incapable of obeying the law, let alone enforcing it for others; unable to self-soothe, let alone keep the peace. Why must ordinary people be asked to stay calm and not upset them? www.theverge.com/policy/86745...

It’s astounding how many media outlets and universities are still lending credibility to a profoundly anti-knowledge platform.

Like, why are y’all not on Gab? Lots of engagement there, too.
“X shows the fragility of relying on tech corporations for business continuity and knowledge sharing. Ultimately universities have no influence on these technologies, but they can adapt quicker to ensure some level of ethical professionalism.”
