Reflection in a Dead Diamond is possibly my favorite Forzani-Cattet film; at the very least, it's tied with The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears. Thanks to @grandillusioncinema.org, it plays @siffnews.bsky.social Dec 3 and comes to @shudder.com Dec 5. Guaranteed: practical effects for *days.*

If you're looking for a sincere, nicely written and improv'd holiday movie, The Baltimorons is a great, sweet and surprisingly deep movie. A nice antidote to the hyper-commercial holiday film.

"Strassner’s gentle, soft-hearted touch defines THE BALTIMORONS. It sometimes feels improvisational, a testament to the sparkling lead performances, which function in concert with a typically gritty working-class Baltimore adorned with holiday lights and tinsel."

Reflection in a Dead Diamond is a rare gem indeed from maximalist pastiche experts Forzani & Cattet, an investigation into the expanding impact of violence, moviemaking and James Bond. Also: torn flesh and gorgeous frames. My review for @screenrant.bsky.social : screenrant.com/reflection-i...

2025 watch #953: Reflection in a Dead Diamond (2025)

This movie fucks. Like David Lynch directed a giallo James Bond, with BDSM ninjas, a woman in leather tearing a man's sack off like paper towels, Judith and Holofernes, and never knowing what, if anything, is real.
