Mostly weather, dataviz, and some homesteading projects in Boulder, CO
Closest fantasy football championship of all time?
By the smallest unit possible, I scraped together a second consecutive league win.

This made me check my brain for a second this morning - Cool visual of the shadow from the cloud racing eastward as the sun rises

Just dumbfounded how so many blue collar Americans supported / continue to support this criminal

Bump. It’s never snowing again.
No snow in Denver until February. Calling it now.

My first winter in Colorado was 2019-2020, which was epic, and it’s been a downhill slide since then.

Really hoping there are enough Dickensian apparitions to go around tonight. A big chunk of the United States is in dire need of a good Yuletide haunting.
Peace on earth, goodwill to men.

Unseasonable warmth is forecast across a large portion of the Lower 48 this week. High temps will soar to 30-40 degrees above normal, with some areas as much as 50 degrees above normal. Dozens of daily temp records could be broken.

How warm will it be where you live this week? Check weather.gov.

Keep saying “it feels like summer” today. But really, it’s what I WISH summer was like (70s). Rather than the new normal of 100.

Another day with the windows open after sunset. Super disturbing but also delightful. Continued spring weather this December in Colorado

I’m 100% emotionally invested in this single GFS storm at day 10

Correction: No precipitation for at least 60 days.

Rewatching The West Wing - sadly feels more and more like a fantasy every time I revisit this series.

But I’d like my son to know that version of US governing before he knows the current reality.

President Trump thinks he can intimidate Colorado by shuttering NCAR.

It’s political retribution, Senator John Hickenlooper and I won’t stand for it. We are holding up the appropriations package to demand NCAR is fully funded.

NEW: Colorado Sens Hickenlooper and Bennet announce they're putting a hold on the Senate appropriations package to demand funding for NCAR.

Bennet said today that the Trump administration's move to dismantle the climate/weather lab is retaliation for Tina Peters' imprisonment.

1) I had blissfully forgotten about some of these people.

2) I mean, it’s great to have literally everyone on the same page. (That’s how you know it’s really bad…)

3) But this post is absolutely right — they are the reason we’re in this situation.
You guys all voted for this, admit it, and own it. All of you spend your careers spreading climate disinformation on Twitter. This is on you because you are the ones who have been constantly peddling the false narratives that brought us here in the first place.

One of the important differences on the Front Range between December 2021 and today is the dryness that allowed for the Marshall Fire to take off. 30-day SPEI was extreme in 2021, while snow 2 weeks ago left fuels in a less receptive state. PSPS and lessons learned in 2021 likely helping out too.

Dead calm at my house.
