RIP U.S. innovation.
Between gutting the H-1B program, purging US scientists from civil service, slashing research grants, and disappearing international students off the streets, our government has made a conscious decision to kill America's roll as a global leader in science and innovation.

When mask mandates were enacted to try and save lives, the right screamed about freedom.

When mask bans were passed? They celebrated. Because it’s not about freedom.

With vaccine mandates, they screamed about autonomy.

When vaccines get restricted, they cheer. Because it’s not about autonomy.

My Stanford MD PhD to me today: "I realized that you're right. They're not just tolerating COVID caution - they're actively targeting people who are trying to protect themselves"

It's been about 2 months since I started the maraviroc and atorvastatin for Long COVID. And finally I'm on my fourth day in a row of no symptoms - none at all.

This still needs a little clean up, but the directory of Long COVID doctors and treatments I've been collecting is up:

1 in 5 Americans have had lingering symptoms from a COVID infection. Many people recover naturally after a few months, but others are sick for years. If this happens to you, don't expect to get any form of treatment from your doctor. Instead, you'll have to experiment yourself:

*Children with long COVID* recovered *within 2 years* and *repeated infection made it worse*. Read that as many times as you need to. This is NOT a happy news story.

~1 in 5 Americans have had lingering symptoms following COVID. Often, they're mild and resolve quickly. Sometimes they are severe and last years, which is what happened to me. Unfortunately, if this happens to you, you are screwed. This is what it's like trying to get care:

I think my most controversial take on COVID, and what I think nearly everyone in is getting wrong about this, is that it's a disease whose burden falls primarily on the young. Not the old.

If you don't know me from Twitter, I write a lot of threads about COVID. This is because of my personal experience dealing with long COVID over the last few years. According to the government, or most of society, people like me shouldn't exist. Yet, there are millions of us:

The appointment of Bhattacharya to run the NIH and indeed, the entire focus on who runs these major health agencies (did anyone even know prior to 2020?) is a form of psychological suppression.

When people talk about the devastation from COVID, they usually cite the number of people who died (7 million, 20 million, 30 million) or the economic cost ($14 trillion, $35 trillion, etc) but this pales in comparison to the true cost, something most people do not understand or talk about:
