They were given a quota of 3,000 arrests a day so they have to just round up whatever “low hanging fruit” they can find. There is no other way to meet that quota.

Trump’s attempted takeover of the LOC may also be a test case to see how susceptible congressional Republicans are to his power grab. If they let him install ideologues throughout the LOC, maybe they’d let him do the same to other indispensable legislative entities.

And companies expect us to pay for the cost of the power they’re consuming. I never asked for AI nor do I want AI so I certainly don’t want to be stuck paying their electric bill.
AI could consume 40% of all data center electricity by the end of the year and will soon surpass bitcoin mining in power consumption. Companies like Google are revising their net zero greenhouse emissions target dates.
