I am working with ASM to re-launch the Central NY ASM Branch! 🧫🦠

We have funds allocated for us and now just need 25 signatures from ASM members in the geographic region in support of this branch.

More info is in the form and also I’ve attached a FAQ sheet.

In many industries, DEI is not a ‘nice thing to have’ but a crucial requirement for survival and growth.
It would be nice if people could stop acting like DEI is an only a moral good.

DEI strengthens organizations. People from diverse backgrounds bring new ways of solving problems and serving people.

DEI isn’t a gift to diverse people. It’s a gift to the orgs that hire us.

I’m furious about this. I’ve published in ASM journals for 20 years, been a reviewer, editorial board member, senior editor, and served on the MICROBE program committee. In the past 10 years ASM has taken inclusivity seriously and has actively recruited diverse members and leadership… 1/2
I thought you were better than this @asm.org…thoroughly disappointed in a society I’ve given a lot if effort to throughout my career
Make the government make you take down articles @asm.org

Don’t do it in advance as a precaution because of loss if funding or whatever. Hell, I would’ve paid way higher membership dues if I knew it would help you take a stand and if you gave us that choice vs whatever this is. Now, not so much

Hi, #AcademiaSky! I'm a #newPI gearing up to teach a mid-level #CellBio course in spring 25. I'm implementing a final project where students work in small groups to make a poster on an emerging model organism in cell bio.

Please suggest potential taxa! Bonus points if you include a paper! (1/N)

Around this time, some people start putting up seasonal decorations. I do that too, except I also change my RStudio theme to "Yule", and I swear that adds to the seasonal splendor: www.garrickadenbuie.com/project/rsth...
