In Chicago, four vehicles descended and eight ICE agents moved in to kidnap a child.

She screams, “I’m 15,” as ICE yanks her from the car and kneels on her neck.

This is not about immigration enforcement.

It's about terrorizing Americans.

i find this image so fascinating. it is both a literal example of authoritarianism but also a second-hand reproduction of the aesthetics of other authoritarian states. it's like a simulacra of authoritarianism whose purpose is to attempt to make the simulacra real.
This is a real photograph of Washington, DC this week, where the United States president has ordered military occupation in peacetime, and ordered the display of colossal portraits of himself.

In 2016, Ghislaine Maxwell falsely stated, under oath, that she was not aware that Jeffrey Epstein recruited underage girls for sex (you know, the ones she was actually recruiting on his behalf). She was charged with two counts of perjury for this.

Remind me why we give a shit what she says now?

The Handmaid's Tale.

Now.

Oh. Damn it. It's already banned in parts of the USA.

When a book becomes alive. Too quick.

It seems it's already too late for a rising. But I do hope I am wrong.

One of the striking things about the Abrego Garcia case is that would be trivially easy for the government to demand his return and give apologists an easy talking point: "Yes, sure, mistakes happen but see, they care about getting it right & doing it legally after all." But nope.
