and actually ykw its interesting that atla as a franchise has such a massive blindspot DURING the war. all spinoffs are either set during/before roku or after the end of the war, theres almost nothing in between besides like. ursa and hama's backstories.

smth abt how aang's original/intended masters were all older men (pakku, bumi, jeongjeong) but his best teachers end up being his peers and they become his closest friends (katara, toph, zuko) (and also two of them are girls hell yeah)

its so funny that aang and iroh actually have only one real interaction in tje whole show when theyre looking for zuko and katara in the book2 finale.
when the moon koi is killed and aang goes glowy mode and wades into the pond to unleash koizilla. katara reaches out for a moment (trying to stop him?) but then iroh waves her off. what was he thinkijg in that moment i wonder

i love that zach tyler eisen's voice changes as the show progresses, u barely notice it but if u go back and rewatch book 1 after book 3 (like ive done lmao) theres a big difference! and it complements aang's character arc very well

him having enough scruples to punish ozai for asking him to betray iroh, but coming up with the most batshit punishment, that doesnt even WORK and ends up ensuring his own demise becus he has absolutely no idea what actually goes on in his own family. firelord azulon more like faillord azulon
and yet we only see him do exactly two (2) actually plot-important things in all of canon: find ursa so ozai can marry her, and order ozai to kill zuko. and we all know how that ends for him
