I dream of utopia. Library socialism. Social ecology. Non-dual spirituality. I’m either trying to make sense of the world or staring into the abyss. I also love reading fantasy!

So Severance season 2 episode 7 ruined me.

I don’t know what changed in the last 3-4 years, but I cry all the damn time now. Tears of joy. Tears of sadness. Tears of empathy. You can give me an elevator pitch about a single hardship/inspirational accomplishment in your life and I’m probably going to start weeping.

Nothing quite pisses me off like when a national “liberal” media company posts an article about something sad happening to a trans person and the majority of reactions are laugh reactions.

There are bands and artists I’ve loved forever who have stayed silent through state-sponsored genocides and fascist political takeovers and honestly it generates a disdain in my heart that I can’t get past.

Watching No Other Land, the documentary on the expulsions and violence in the West Bank, and my heart breaks more every day.

Did I go to the gym today? No.

But did I make myself an awesome, nutritious dinner? Also no.

But did I finally catch up some chores? Well… no.

At the very least did I stay home and save some money? Kind of…except for the books I bought online.

Not everyday is productive but at least it was fun 🤷🏻‍♂️

Book clubs are cool but I need a TV show club where I can talk about Severance with people.

Holding onto hope has been feeling like a chore lately. But most chores must be done, regardless of how burdensome they are.

Maybe one day I’ll record some of my music. Until then I’ll post snippets on bluesky and fight the urge to immediately delete them.

Gonna start posting whenever I finish a book (which could be every week or every two months because reading requires mental capacity).

The Wax and Wayne saga is severely under-hyped. I love the plot twists and I know the final payoffs are going to be epic and probably heartbreaking.

Get ready for a marathon. Trump will make countless evil comments and profoundly disturbing moves. Sprinting toward each one will both exhaust us and not allow us to fight effectively for years and years. Build for the marathon, build for the long-haul.

As social media grows and digital media monopolies meld into oligarchical entities I feel more compelled to take a principled stance and completely quit using meta-owned properties.

Trump is going more crazy fascist and it seems Kamala is capitalizing by sidestepping a little bit more right to try and woo his skeptical conservative followers. Thus the Overton Window shifts again.

Feeling extra goddamn powerless today. A legitimate genocide is happening, funded in large part by U.S. taxpayers, and no amount of action budges our reps in the slightest bit towards calling for a ceasefire and end to the Palestinian occupation.

I just finished Oathbringer (Stormlight Archive book 3) and… I have qualms about who the protagonists are/why I’m supposed to sympathize/cheer for them.

SPOILERS ⬇️

Humans invaded, murdered, subjugated and enslaved parshendi for ages. Why even fight their army? Like, give them their land back lol.

Desperately trying to find the balance of being a present and functioning father/husband/employee while also feeling nonstop grief, heartache, and rage on behalf of Palestinians.

Re: Palestine & other global suffering - Everything is always just a distraction. It feels cowardly but it feels like it’s the best I can hope for in so many instances. So much damn grief.
