I’ve been thinking a lot about Murkowski’s vote. It contains, in one action, so much that defines our pathetic political moment:

Selfishness: I’m taking care of me and mine, the rest of you can pound sand;

Lack of accountability: I know the bill is bad, hopefully someone else will fix it;

Tried resist.bot just to see how the experience was. If all you have is a phone it's accessible and super easy! Just respond to text prompts and send letters!

Welcome to the dumbest administration
April 6, 2025 at 7:45 PM
I had the opportunity to work with this team and they were exceptional. They were actually making the government more efficient.
The administration got rid of 18F under the cover of night. People who own skyscrapers are afraid of 100 people who make websites.

Not because of the latest tech fad, but because we proved the government can be fixed, the government can be made better and the government can work for the people.

I really appreciate @marisakabas.bsky.social reporting on the trauma and physical and psychological effects of how Musk is harassing workers. This kind of workplace abuse wreaks devastating havoc on peoples' lives www.thehandbasket.co/p/musk-opm-5...
Move fast and break people
For Elon Musk's government, the psychological warfare is the point.

THIS ACTION: Elected Dems should offer simulcast daily briefings and simulcast weekly town halls to build and organize a collective opposition party of elected Dems and American citizens. This would alleviate the despair, heighten engagement, and empower the masses. We can not wait any longer.

Less than 1% of NPR’s budget comes from the federal govt.

I... Oh crap. Is that why?
Anyone who happened to know that the White House would announce and then suspend tariffs within 24 hours just made a boatload of money.

My instinct is to make the case that USAID is extremely good, actually. But I feel like it’s more important to say, “What is happening is antagonistic to the foundational document of the nation.”

It’s a coup. That’s what’s happening. It doesn’t matter if it’s only been two weeks. Impeachable offenses aren’t like wine. They don’t need to age.
If Dems don’t call it impeachable now, it won’t be effective to call it impeachable later. Go on record now.

White House reporters need training in asking questions. Not “is Elon Musk doing a good job?” Ask “how and why does Musk have the power to control Treasury?” Damn! FFS!

There is a coup. It is happening now. Read this. Really read it. Do something.
Sometimes self-government just means elections. And sometimes it means recognizing the deeper dignity and meaning of what it means to be a people. That means speaking up, standing out, and protesting. We can only be free together.

The logic of “move fast and break things,” is to gain quick dramatic successes that deter and demoralize and create the impression of inevitability. Nothing is inevitable. Do not be alone and do not be dismayed. Find someone who is doing something you admire and join them. @timothysnyder.bsky.social

I think Americans, blessed with relatively stable government for a long time, assume there is someone, some adult, who will step in and make things right before the President does anything REALLY bad.

There’s not.

This is good advice we should all try to follow. Messaging is vital when you're battling an authoritarian government.
