Tech Cooperative? Been thinking about how the Thunderbird (Community) Council being involved in our business helps us avoid enshittification.

How could we turn that system into something that is more inclusive of all users? Been fascinated by how Coops (think REI) democratize the corporation.

"Big tech. The mainstream of tech is wired to harvest our creativity, to harvest our data, to harvest our money. Only to benefit a few people.

We can and must build a different kind of tech industry, that has humans in mind and shares the wealth with all of us"
In an era of AI slop and mega-monopolies, we must build pro-human, trustworthy tech.

Mozilla is backing founders who are proving that this can be possible.

Ready to join the rebel alliance?

Strangely seems appropriate for both Jurassic Park and Silicon Valley.

Amazing how relevant the movie still is.

Great afternoon with a brew from @boulevardbeer.bsky.social called "The Nutcracker", Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Here we go. 💌 :)

This city really shines in fall. Lots of people planted trees, whose shade they never sat under here in KC. Quite literally.
Fall in Kansas City hits different. 🍂 This beauty reminds us why our work with Canopy KC matters. Every tree we plant today becomes tomorrow’s masterpiece. We’re planting thousands of trees across our neighborhoods, building shade, beauty, and cleaner air for all.

Exactly. Lots of people find speaking to a computer naturally and getting an understandable response is useful to many.

Denying that lots of people are using AI makes it *very* hard to have a real discussion about solutions to the problems these big AI platforms are creating.
There’s a very surreal conversation I keep having on here where people seem unable to hold two ideas at the same time, and I’m not sure why. It’s simply true that the Big AI platforms like ChatGPT are:
1. Extremely bad for society, in many ways.
2. Very genuinely popular with lots of people.

This post from @anildash.com perfectly encapsulates the disconnect in the discussion of AI.

Plenty of real people get value from interacting with LLMs. We can't afford to cede this technology to Profit-at-all-costs Big Tech.
And I think that's wishful thinking. Hundreds of *millions* of people are using AI. And the vasty majority have NO IDEA how dangerous or harmful these platforms can be. It would be great if there were tools that they could use that might help reduce their risks. www.anildash.com/2025/11/14/w...
