This is one of the best descriptions this story I ever read. The version they published in Tapping the Vein with art by John Bolton is still one of the greatest horror stories ever printed.

This story has lived with me since I was a teen. It’s visceral and strange and powerful. I often mention it in Creative Writing classes.

This thread has a link to an excellent write up.
Clive Barker wrote a story in Books of Blood, "In the Hills, the Cities," where two cities have a festival where everyone in each city straps themselves together into an enormous kaiju, thousands of writhing and heaving bodies stomping about towering over the landscape.

One interesting thing I never considered about being an avid book buyer is this:
When your kid suddenly discovers something, there’s a chance you have more of it or to sit alongside it that you can direct them to.
Bonus points if you’ve read it before and so can discuss it.

You crash land on an isolated planet and seek safety within a tower.
Roll a d8 to go up/down floors, explore, fight, maybe survive, and create a character who breaks your heart.

Ryan has written a bunch of great comics, but Negative Space is still my fav - the way it explores depression and suicide really spoke to me when I was a terribly depressed egg, then the weird SFnal aspects take it up a few notches.
NEGATIVE SPACE was a comic miniseries at Dark Horse with Owen Gieni in Art. This remains one of my biggest critical hits - it won two Australian awards, the Aurealis Award and a Bronze Ledger award.

It’s about a writer penning their suicide note and getting writer’s block. Then it gets weirder.
