One more very exciting thing in the world of Sound Studies! Yun Emily Wang, Darci Sprengel, Ian MacMillen and I are co-editing a volume (with @dukepress.bsky.social) called "Quiet Relations," for which we're holding a (public!!) symposium next month at Duke University.

I wrote a tribute to Dr. Jonathan Sterne, who passed away this March way too young, in Sounding Out! — a venue he’d published in, and which felt right for it. I owe him a deep debt intellectually and personally, and he was frankly a great person.

Oh hey it’s RELEASE DAY for “Bangkok After Dark,” my new book! It’s a heck of a thing to hold a physical copy. It’s hard to talk about it without getting overwhelmed. I hope you will really like it and enjoy learning about the history of Thai-US nightlife encounters during the Vietnam War.
