This morning my neighbour found an opossum in one of her garbage cans. It sought shelter there from the snow and bitter cold temperatures we experienced last night. These marsupials aren't native to Canada and struggle to survive in our climate.

24-Nov: On this day in 1859 was published Charles Darwin’s ‘On the Origin of Species‘. As revolutionary science books go, it’s a damn fine read. Here’s my retrospective review: friendsofdarwin.com/reviews/book... #histsci

It's a frosty morning here on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Most birds seem to be hunkered down waiting for the sun to warm things up a bit. There are always the hardy black-capped chickadees and the dark eyed juncoes flitting about in search of food.

Winter is beginning to raise its head here in Ontario. Time to bring in the big canoes at the Canadian Canoe Museum before Little Lake freezes up. It's quiet inside so I dressed up in the fur trade display.

Today I parked my car under a maple tree near the Canadian Canoe Museum where I volunteer. When I returned 5 hours later, autumn had arrived.

I wander mentally and physically everyday. Usually to the same physical place, but somehow it always feels different. The weather? The light? Me?

A lovely calm morning here by Lake Ontario. A few mild days have reduced the ice and snow levels. Birds are singing and returning. Is spring in the air?
