It was fabulous to see my old friend Ruyter Suys today! A very brief visit, but still fabulous. We met way back in the 80s in Saskatoon when I was first hitting the road. She went on to form Nashville Pussy and rocks the planet!

The folks at Sound Heritage here in Nanaimo have been working hard to improve the grounds for Backyard Fest behind their shop. Great record store with used stereo equipment and repairs. Live music outdoors in summer! The lumber for the stairs looks skookum (Mike Gogo Cedar Products!).

When I was a young man, I drank tons of black coffee. French Roast, Sumatra. The challenge was finding the shop with the “good” stuff in each town (before the chains rolled into town). Then I stopped for 20 years. I’m back and digging it! Here are some favourites, Jamaican Blue Mountain being #1!!
