Today we're training... birds?

👇 That's Mabel, the Aussie Magpie living in my backyard since she was a chick.

So, how'd we go on the fitness front?

- Sleep quality massively improved
- 40x strength sessions
- Down 4.5 KG (10lbs)
- Ran over 100KM

Think I'll do this again to start 2026!

Wishing y'all a very merry, holly jolly, happy (dappy?) Christmas, ya filthy animals!

And in case you're wondering, this is what Dec 25 looks like in Australia. XMas lunch, then sun 🐨🦘🌞

Pls note: Our creeks are not, in fact, made of chocolate, beer or gravy. They are brown from algae. Just because

In the home stretch!

Today I woke up feeling... great?
As in, no tiredness, no desire to hit snooze, no brain fog.

Seems that my sleep routine, training schedule and work-life balance readjustment is now paying off.

We noticed a rising interest regarding the use of AI in browsers. To be clear about our position on this: Zen currently is disabling all AI features included in Firefox and will continue to do so.

🔴 Live: Australia’s Social Media Ban Impacts Everyone (Not Just Kids)

After following (& living under) the Australian Government's attempts at internet censorship for nearly twenty years, I finally decided to weigh in on it.

Equal parts explainer, and a warning for the future.

Absolutely stunning to see Australia's teen social media ban rushed through while every single government, educational institution and probably a huge number of parents are frantically force-injecting chatbot slop into the mind of every single child in the country without a second's hesitation

Here's the reality this example illustrates:

It's not even just about people blindly trusting what ChatGPT tells them. LLMs are poisoning the entire information ecosystem. You can't even necessarily trust that the citations in a published paper are real (or a search engine's descriptions of them).

I think this fitness thing is starting to work.

Finished a 10KM run, and my pod, just in time to hear a couple talking on a nearby bench:

"...and what if I looked like him? (points at me)
What if I got a bunch of muscles and some fake tan?"

Both the muscles and tan are real, kind sir. But, noted.

Australia's new national AI plan has an “opportunity first” approach to capitalise on the "productivity" and "innovation" that AI apparently delivers. The plan rejects the mandatory protective guardrails that were included in the standalone AI act proposed by former industry minister Ed Husic 🧵
In an exclusive interview, Industry and Innovation Minister Tim Ayres defends the National AI Plan:

“There are clear accountabilities for existing regulators and existing portfolio agencies to do their work, and the AI Safety Institute is there to support that work.”

Labor’s new AI plan puts faith in self-regulation
In a bid to support Australian innovation in the AI revolution, the Albanese government has stripped back layers of regulation, which critics say hands big tech too much power.

This morning, I said f*ck it.

❌ Closed 262 open browser tabs, across 15 windows
❌ Then I closed all 46 tabs on my phone

Some of these have been open for years. Literally.
Only 12 tabs remain.

I consider this a success.
