Ruby community: Look, we can be angry about what's happening, we can raise our complaints, but under no circumstances should anyone _ever_ harass someone's families, coworkers, or friends.

That is completely unacceptable, and wholly against the ethos of the language. We must do better.

😮‍💨 I really think we should stop fighting each other. This is just playing straight into DHH’s hands.

What I wouldn’t give for more time and energy to contribute to this project.

@timriley.info leading the way and I’d like to follow.

This is a mini-tutorial about per-slice sessions in Hanami, but it’s also a story about caring for our users, being honest about where we are, and a chance for you to get involved.

I think we finally found a succinct answer for the “why Edinburgh?” Question?

It won’t work with everyone, but I think it’ll hit enough of the time.

I continue to fund @hanamirb.org because I believe in @timriley.info as a leader who will create communities that welcome everyone, not just a select few.

He, to me, represents the heart of Ruby and I am proud to support him and Hanami.

I agree and even more so: what if the problem is us, the Ruby community, not contributing to our key nonprofit enough? We did not have ownership because we didn’t show up, and RC ended up being squeezed by a big donor because they did not have enough sponsors, stability and support.
*Taps sign* If you don't like it do something about it, and complaining on social media counts for nothing.
RE: Ruby Central funding, and a consolidation of power with companies like Shopify.

For years now the lead funder of Ruby and Rails initiatives has been Shopify, full stop. They've contributed heavily in both time and money, and through that have left a substantial impact on Ruby and Rails.

Read the whole thread. Are you the leader @baweaver.bsky.social (and all of us) is talking about?
Valuable words from @tekin.co.uk. We as a community must hold our leaders to account and say that this is not ok.

The ✨best✨ keynote in all the 20 years of Railsconf.

I know this because while @doodlingdev.bsky.social watched them all, I was exposed by osmosis. #expertopinion
Turnaround in record time, the Railsconf 2025 talks have been published! If you missed my keynote in person: here’s your opportunity. Now excuse me while I go binge all the talks I missed. www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-lq...

Thank you Mina!! All I want is for people to find the tools and people they love :)

One of the things I’ve never really expressed before is in this post: I think people can “vacation” in Hanami and bring cool ideas back to their Rails apps. That we can use Ruby in so many different ways is amazing!

OTW home from Railsconf and came across this from @timriley.info about @hanamirb.org. After a week of conversations around being inclusive DESPITE a Certain Someone, Hanami is a community I am super excited about!

I still love Rails, but I agree:
“A healthy future for Ruby is a more diverse one.”
It’s week 5 of our sponsorship drive, and it’s time to talk about the elephant in the room — Rails.

#railsconf join us for a community building drink at 5pm today (Tuesday)
I’m hosting a community gathering at the Sheraton Lobby bar at 5pm, today! I’ve always enjoyed conversational diverse events at RailsConf, so let’s have one, one last time. I’ll put a little money behind the bar so come along, have a drink on me, and make some Ruby friends! #railsconf

Our UK visas got approved! Thus concludes our ~5-month journey from engaging an immigration lawyer to Aji’s Global Talent endorsement to visa approvals.

I wish I could share this good news with Noah Gibbs. Without him, moving to Scotland would just be a pipe dream. 💙
