Friends who stop by to pick flower and food friends to take to and nourish friends returning home from hospital is the kind of community we want to be part of. ❤️

(Cf. Timely relevance of “I know a guy who grows food and flowers” exchange w/ @ceej.online & @spencerkeys.bsky.social minutes ago. 🤓)

This is a Guy Thing I remain fully behind … while also extending a nod of acknowledgement and gratitude to the even deeper Gal Economy … and to the fact those Guy Things are equally well fulfilled also by Gals … gah, let’s just help each other out. 😉❤️👌

my father-in-law is a “I know a guy” Guy. sadly all the old Guys are aging out of the Guy Economy. Guys are fundamentally incompatible with Hustle Culture because it’s not about “winning” a deal, it’s about collecting favors and goodwill in a mutually-beneficial cycle. protect your local Guy Economy

One of the things you learned at 18F and USDS is that government isn’t like a business: it has to serve everybody and not just specific market segments that are the most convenient.

“These days, with the global markets in disarray and the future of the places we ride in peril, we should probably spend less time thinking about the specifics of optimizing our rides or whether we have the perfect bike to ride a specific trail, and just go see what we can do with what we have.”

There are places with which we can build relationships upon only a single visit. People with whom the ties that bind still thrive despite the better - though less good for the absences - part of a lifetime apart.

What Phil said (acknowledging my bias and investment in all this).

So, yes, especially if you’re working in the #bcpoli and #futuregov spaces, please bolster this initiative of my wonderful @governmentofbc.bsky.social colleagues. It’s high time we stop supporting the alternatives, and build better.
Boost public service accounts when they arrive here, so they can build high enough follower counts to make it worth their time. Engagement on X is often a mirage, but if it appears higher it makes it harder for them to justify the transition.

I read such a brilliant piece of writing this morning. Felt resonantly connected with the author.

Then I learned the author is a proven plagiarizer, with other (unproven) assertions they heavily rely on AI.

Poked around & found others passing off the article’s content as their own.

And now…

Loved this so much, Ann.

“Today kindness is a value many punks uphold, alongside pragmatic skill-building, mutual aid, self-criticism, a strong work ethic and the courage it takes to imagine a life that may never bring huge material rewards but will support the health and dignity of everyone.”

"Went on a 35-mile bike ride today, entirely on bike paths, through all kinds of landscapes. Turns out I love biking, I'm just scared of biking with cars."

There are few things better than being nearby withnessing people you love in the places, pursuits and experiences that fill them up.
