Whatever happened to .... the 12-year-old Ukrainian girl in need of a heart transplant?
During a Russian attack, a medical team drove to extract the heart of a young girl who'd just died and bring it to their hospital, where a 12-year-old was in desperate need of a transplant.

Four-year-old Mark Ifiemenko is one of the most cheerful kids you’ll meet, with bright smile and an infectious laughter.
If it weren’t for scars on his face, it would be hard to tell that the young boy has lived through immense tragedy in his short life.

This is what a healthy democratic society looks like!
Protests against Law 12414 are several times larger today in Kyiv.
It’s important to understand that, no matter what russian propaganda claims, these are NOT protests to surrender.

So I realise when writing my drafts, I often start with the last paragraph and move from there to the lede which is usually last thing I write.
And before I file, I read through and move paragraphs to create a better flow, and that process feels almost mathematical.
Anyone else weird like that?

A Shahed drone carries as much payload as a car bomb. Now imagine 100s of these car bombs, along with other missiles, exploding over heavily populated cities almost daily. This is the everyday reality of Ukrainians; living under shadow of death every night and picking up pieces every morning.

From my table at a lovely cafe in #Kyiv I saw this beautiful couple getting their wedding photos taken.
Just 12 hours before, my flatmate and I had run across this same street towards the metro looking for cover as Ukrainian defense forces repelled #Russian drones and missiles above us. (July 6)

Some snippets from a surreal, frustrating night in #Kyiv on #July4.
Its awful that this is increasingly becoming normal for Ukrainians (although last night was supposedly the worst in a very long time) and it was so surreal to see how quickly everyone snapped back to normalcy the next morning.
