I loved Buck Rogers.
Another childhood memory fading into dust.

Farewell Tom Stoppard. I was only going through my collection of old programmes yesterday, and found this from 1983. I then heard the sad news of his death.
He also co-wrote "Brazil", which is one of my favourite films.

Thinking of those who died and their families.
#Covidinquiry
BREAKING: UK’s response to Covid was “too little too late”. Acting faster could have saved 23,000 lives in England according to the public inquiry.

Boris Johnson presided over a “toxic, sexist, chaotic culture” in No10, where rule-breaking seriously undermined public confidence.

What a wonderful story.

A couple of years ago I went on a pilgrimage to the derelict moorland cottage where a vegetarian ex-butcher once lived with a bull he had adopted, named Scrunch.

You will find the story in the alt text...

What a wonderful actress. Although Sybil Fawlty is what she will be remembered for most, I love the film Hobson's Choice too.
Thinking of her family too at this sad time.

I'm off to Canada again tomorrow. The fact that they have upset the orange one again is just a cherry on the top.

1. Dr. Jane Goodall 1934 - 2025

In 1962, a very young woman named Jane Goodall stepped into the African forest.

What she would discover shattered our understanding of the place of human beings in the world.

She revealed that chimpanzees use tools, form bonds, and experience emotions.

I went to this tonight and enjoyed it. Having to use a map and criss-cross between venues I got my steps in. Not something you usually associate with ballet.

Like most people of my generation, I grew up with Blue Peter.
Thank you for many of my earliest TV memories.

I visited my parents in London yesterday, and went out for a very hot walk to the edge of Epping Forest near where they live.
I was pleased to see the old tree is still there. I have photos of it from over 40 years ago on film somewhere.
Some things remain constant at least.

This is a substantial change and now requires careful scrutiny in the Lords. I am in support of assisted dying (including for those that are not covered in this Bill) but I am not without empathy for those who don't feel the same as I do.
BREAKING: MPs vote FOR assisted dying at third and final reading.

AYE: 314
NO: 291

The most significant social change in a generation now progresses to the Lords.
