Please help protect Oregon’s disabled children from state-sanctioned abuse! This bill will set us back years, unraveling the already-limited protections we have for our most vulnerable kids. Written testimony must be submitted by this Friday 7:59am. 💛 #Oregon #Disability #Restraint #Seclusion #Abuse
Critical Action Required: Submit Testimony to Defeat HB 3835 for Oregon's Children!
More children and teens will be hurt if HB 3835 passes!

🧵 If I'm going to get hate mail over it, I'll do this thread over w/o typos:

Bluntly, I'm hearing from Hill offices that messages sent via resistbot tend to be heavily discounted.

Calling is a more impactful way of communicating with Members and Senators. So if you can call, call. 🧵

This is it. Each step is testing the waters for the next.
Some higher ed organizations who are loudly circling the wagons against federal funding cuts were oddly silent or circumspect about the earlier attacks on CRT and DEI.

I wish there was a better understanding that these attacks are coming because we failed to repel those.

I think an American flag created entirely by black men at the Superbowl is one of the best pieces of art I've seen in my lifetime. I hope it actually killed some folks. And I hope it finally closes the fucking book on the argument that we shouldn't use the flag to fight the God damned fascists.

Sharing our stories with legislators makes such a difference! It’s not an easy thing to do, but it’s one of the most powerful actions many of us can take.
At a meeting today with staffers for Senators Markey and Warren, the staffers made two concrete asks:

1. Please call or email and share your stories about how the current administration’s actions are hurting or will hurt you personally. The Senators can use these human stories to persuade those /1

I went to my Congressman's local office today. First off, they were surprised that I was there. They said they had been getting phone calls, but I was the first walk-in. That said, the phones were not ringing off the hook. If the DC phone lines are busy, try calling the local office.

Every time I open up this app it’s to something like ‘John Garglemyballs now controls the IRS’ and I think ‘haha what a funny bit’ and then I scroll down to an NPR headline saying the same thing and I die a little inside.

Most of the people reading this have a sense of how bad things are right now.

So for encouragement, here's a thread with examples of folks fighting back.

I think the biggest shock for me is that Trump (or his people) used the correct “severe intellectual disabilities” terminology and not the other word. I’m sure they wanted the biggest bang for the buck with “severe,” but they would have made a more believable case with “borderline” or “mild.” 🤷🏻‍♀️

Did you wear a mask today?
Disabled people warned you that

was really

x - eugenics
x - capitulation to fascism
X - manufactured consent to be harmed.

Welcome to the Wayside.

Put your mask on. Put your mask on. Put your mask on. If you call yourself a leftist and you’re not masking, what do you even stand for? How many people have you disabled or killed so far?
people keep tagging me in fuck around and find out content like I haven’t been talking about how pandemics lead to fascism since 2020.

The “find out” portion isn’t just for everyone who doesn’t consider themself a liberal—it’s for them too.

Haven’t masked in 4 years? FAAFO.
