The BBC high definition television service from #AlexandraPalace officially began at 3pm.
Baird (240-line) & Marconi-EMI (405-line) systems were employed (until Feb 1937), when it became a completely electronic system.
The service closed down on 1st September 1939.

Can’t believe I almost forgot.. 66 years ago, Ulster Television launched & Laurence Olivier was the first person to appear, as a shareholder and member of the board. UTV is very close to my heart, as a 5 year old, I appeared on Romper Room for a week in 1973 and worked there for 10 years from 2003..
