I love growing things from seed. Here is my latest, from the chilies I used to chat with my neighbour about, in broken English with before he moved out. Was a wonderful relationship and hopefully his plant will keep that memory alive.

Is this what you mean by more highly trained, @schumer.senate.gov?
BIG news from @bloomberg.com, which confirms that ICE has gone ahead and *purchased* multiple commercial warehouses with the aim of converting them into mass detention camps.

This is likely to be the big detention story of 2026 — literal warehousing of people.

If the courts do nothing, court orders do nothing too
An infuriated federal judge in Minnesota on Wednesday published a list of nearly 100 court orders that ICE had violated over the last month.

Judge Schiltz wrote that the "extent of ICE's noncompliance is almost certainly substantially understated."
Judge says ICE violated court orders in 74 cases—see them all here
The extraordinary document offers a glimpse of a national campaign by the federal government to deprive detained immigrants of due process rights.

This was posted in the new Epstein files release and removed about 20 mins later.

It’s pretty fucking wild that the DOJ is releasing files that include accusations that the President of the United States raped underage girls, to distract from the fact that the DOJ is covering up murders of US citizens by their own government.

The word armadillo is borrowed from Spanish and simply means “little armored one.” But an even better word for an armadillo, in my opinion, is the Nahuatl ayotochtli. It means “turtle rabbit.”

German authorities raid Deutsche Bank in money-laundering probe linked to Roman Abramovich
German authorities have searched Deutsche Bank as part of an investigation tied to Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, Spiegel reported . On Wednesday morning, about 30 officers from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), acting on orders from prosecutors, searched the bank’s Frankfurt headquarters and its Berlin office. The Frankfurt public prosecutor’s office said it is investigating unidentified Deutsche Bank executives and employees on suspicion of money laundering. Investigators believe the lender previously maintained business ties with foreign companies suspected of being used for money laundering. According to Spiegel, the searches are connected to firms that investigators associate with Abramovich, who has been on the European Union sanctions list since spring 2022. A lawyer for Abramovich said: “Our client is not aware of any investigations by German authorities in this matter.” He added that Abramovich has always acted in accordance with applicable national and international laws and regulations, and that any claims to the contrary are “false and damaging to the oligarch’s reputation.” Deutsche Bank confirmed investigative actions on its premises and said it is fully cooperating with authorities, while declining to comment further. In December last year, UK authorities demanded that Abramovich direct £2.5 billion ($3.35 billion) from the sale of soccer club Chelsea to “any assistance” for Ukraine, threatening to take the matter to court if he refused.

Katherine Bennell-Pegg has already done more than I ever will, and there is more from her to come
I've only just been made aware that there has been a backlash against astronaut Katherine Bennell-Pegg, Australian of the Year. I've been over on Facebook responding to (mostly male) critics who clearly have no idea how astronauts work. We can't let them be the dominant voice. 🧪 #WomenInSTEM
