Licensed to Ill is the debut studio album by the American hip-hop group Beastie Boys, released on November 15, 1986

With this album, the Beastie Boys (to my dismay) completed their transition from hardcore to hip hop.

You gotta fight for your right (to party)

Thrilled to make my @exclaimdotca.bsky.social debut with a review of the excellent new Home Front record.

Heavy, weird and distinctly Edmonton, “Watch It Die” is the culmination of a sound 20 years in the making.

Last one!

We’ve been celebrating Neil Young’s 80th birthday all day today with help from musicians we asked to pick their favorite song by him.

@pixiesofficial.bsky.social’s Frank Black went deep on “Winterlong” (1973) and here’s a clip!

Happy 80th, Neil Young. Great night of his music so far at ye olde Massey Hall organized by a friend of my youngest brother, Dale Gago. Skye Wallace doing My My Hey Hey has probably been the highlight so far!

The White Stripes + OutKast getting inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on the same night reminded me of my favourite Eye Weekly cover concept, commissioned for our Jan. 22, 2004 Music Critics Poll issue. (Illustration: Ben Shannon)

Happy birthday to Jully Black, born on this day in 1977 in Toronto.
So far in her career as a singer-songwriter, she has won one Juno out of eight nominations. She is also a Gemini Award nominee. She has three top-20 hits in Canada and is known as Canada's Queen of R&B.

I know I don't post much anymore, but because people are asking me - Yes of course I hope #TheWhiteStripes reunite at tonight's R'n'R HoF induction ceremony, and I will $#!% my pants if Jack & Meg play any of Let's Shake Hands, Screwdriver or Death Letter. Ball and Biscuit too, of course.

This does not bode well for a Jack and Meg reunion.
The Disney+ promo only mentions inductees Bad Company, Cyndi Lauper, Salt-N-Pepa, and Soundgarden as performing at the ceremony. Notably there is no mention of OutKast or The White Stripes.

Today is the 35th anniversary of the release of My Bloody Valentine's _Loveless_, which is as good a reason as any to spin one of the 20th century's greatest works of art in any genre.

I know we haven't heard the last of you, Dani!
Have always believed that as a door closes another appears. By now you may have noticed that Night Music on INDIE is gone. I’m still processing but I wanted to take a moment to thank the musicians for sharing their music & anyone who made a request. And U, if you listened.
Thank you my music friend.
