I feel ya. Not quite the same situation but I was so universally bullied in elementary school that I didn't make my own friend until fifth grade. It definitely had an impact on how I socialize.

People talk smack on Final Fantasy 2 (and in some cases for good reason), but the villain is such a drama queen that insists on being everybody's problem that I can't bring myself to hate it.

Yeah, people who just think Kreia is unambiguously correct have missed the point of her teachings. She doesn't care whether you are Light or Dark side, she wants you to think about your decisions and your morals. That being said, she'll get way more pissed at a Dark side Exile near the end.
