This is good! As Julia writes in the article, we don’t know whether the Senate will also pass it. Hopefully they will.

But even if not, this is a blow to the Speaker’s authority and a fracture within the Republican ranks.

Clearly in my feels on this one: I'd love to see the outpouring of media and interest for state schools being stripped of academic freedom the way we breathlessly looked at funding coersion against the ivies. Florida, Ohio, and Texas educate exponentially more students.
Given the news, I just want to say Im proud of the feminist and liberatory curriculum and training I received in Texas A&M's English Department. The work I produced there has won awards. I was tenured based on that preparation and their faculty's right to self-determine content.

We in the legal profession really need to have a moment of introspection about how our commitment to "civility" above all else didn't just enable everything we're seeing now, it helped *cause* it.

Some arguments should not be met with civility. Sometimes civility only serves oppression.
