#klassekunst FEB/2026

|03.-04.|Arnulf Rainer

Inspired by Untitled (Death Mask) 1978

Enjoyed playing with a new tablet, using #infinitepainter. Never got on with digital painting, but this exercise is great, forcing me out of my comfort zone. In hindsight not nearly hairy enough!

Thanks for sharing this, I agree it's amazing! I didn't know their work. I'd like to try something like that..! I also skimmed through the whole collection... Such variety. The later Cubist ish (?) work is also amazing! Love this one from 1938

5minute #Pencilsketch of people working at the national theatre cafe, London

5minute #Pencilsketch of a security guard outside a building on the Southbank, in the freezing cold. Rather him than me! Seems pretty cheerful still. A great subject because I didn't have to draw any hands!

I'm always really happy to get to the winter solstice! Feels really uplifting. Looking forward to more daylight!

#Lifedrawing again tonight at the clock house tavern in Peckham Rye! Great fun. Usual challenge of time versus accuracy in proportions... Plenty of mistakes (not shown!), but also lots I'm really happy with! Enjoyed the pastels for one, mostly #pencilsketch with some #watercolour

My sketch of The Green Book #portraitchallenge by Harold Knight, 1925. Pencil sketch, 9 minutes. Quite pleased with how I didn't overdo my line work on her face. Thanks @schnagi.mastoart.social.ap.brid.gy and of course @studioteabreak.bsky.social

Quick #pencilsketch on the Southbank London - man checks for directions (on his phone... or more likely reads an email... ) just enough time stopped for me to get the basics... Then helpfully stopped a bit closer to me!

I grew up thinking that some people were just born โ€œtalentedโ€ at #art. If you werenโ€™t good at it immediately then it wasnโ€™t for you.

Now I know thatโ€™s a myth. Good is subjective and you get better with practice. Give yourself the space to develop.

Youโ€™re not bad. Youโ€™re just learning โ˜บ๏ธ

Also did a quick #watercolour...
15mins #Lifedrawing pose... I remember feeling thrilled adding two brushes of faint grey shadow, not knowing if it would help!
It's like the satisfaction from an unexpectedly great shot in cricket (or golf), in an otherwise really short (long) innings (round)!

Tried pastels for the first time too, really liked them for quick espressive mark making for short poses!
Trying three colours in combination, like I'd seen by Watteau recently at the British Museum - 'aux trois crayons'!? White didn't work?!
Loved it, and will try again!
