Thanks to @sarasoueidan.com's Practical Accessibility course, I'm much more confident explaining the accessibility benefits of using semantic elements where possible... instead of merely saying that's the best practice.

Explaining the Accessible Benefits of Using Semantic HTML Elements | CSS-Tricks
Why should you use a semantic <button> instead of a generic <div>? Accessibility, right? By how exactly does it help accessibility?

Broke my hand in a bicycle accident, arm in cast after surgery. Decided to vibe code for fun/experiment. I’ve decided it’s akin to ghost riding the whip. A foolish endeavor that is fun for a few minutes before everything gets out of control. Great for throwaway prototypes though!

This is such a great idea. I just chose and ranked my favorite 15 features in the list—primarily CSS and HTML features of course. interop-rank.jakearchibald.com

We should all build websites, then wrap them in apps with banners that say “for the best experience*, use our <easy to click button>[website]. <small hard to notice button>[continue on app]”

Best experience*:
- 15-30% cheaper purchases and subscriptions

Fuck apps - build websites.
New from 404 Media: Google removed an ICE-spotting app too. Called Red Dot, an immigration support group on the ground in Chicago told me it was using it. Google now removed, just like Apple did with ICEBlock after DOJ pressure. Google calls ICE vulnerable group

Camping prep time: thought I’d snap a photo and share my favorite trick: 1tbsp ground coffee + $0.02 disposable tea bag = quick, cheap, and easy coffee for backpacking and camping. Cleanup is a breeze and no additional equipment needed beyond your mug and hot water.

Over the pandemic and switch to remote working, one habit I picked up was to overly accentuate my nonverbal cues — mostly nodding in agreement or showing interest — during meetings. It definitely helped us all feel less isolated and engaged in all those remote meetings. …

I may be barking up the wrong tree, but is there any JS tooling that gives the DX of barrel imports with the performance of granular “deep” imports? I’d be willing to opt-in by marking which files/directories/exports are side-effect free.

It's such a miss that I can't pin advertisements on Pinterest. Every now and then there's actually a good product being advertised to me, but I have no way to save it to my board, short of taking a screenshot, copying the url, and manually creating a pin.

To whoever might find themselves in this particular moment of need: raspberry yogurt is a fine substitution for plain yogurt when making Tikka Masala in a pinch. There’s enough spice to mask any fruitiness.

This ADHD self-test UX bug really stopped me in my tracks. Intentional trick or just a bug?

Also, no definition provided for the difference between “sometimes” and “often” options, and whatever you selected in the prior question remains highlighted for next question, influencing responses.

Brad Frost’s SmashingConf talk was a real treat to watch. Starting out with a tour through web design history, he illustrated the haphazard winding path of progress then looked at where GenAI’s influence may take us. youtu.be/-3Pji_frbII
