It's actually pretty shocking how, until recently, no one with a platform made the point of how ridiculous it is to think that v wealthy ppl would completely upend their lives just cause they'd be made to pay 2% of their vast wealth, which they can't use anyway (as they have more than they can spend)

The 50 wealthiest families own more wealth than the bottom 50% of the population.

How can this Labour Government say this is a "cost of living" budget and refuse to tax the rich?

They care about protecting power and wealth. And cost of living is a buzz phrase for them. Dire.

The very first thing the Prime Minister does is use the household budget metaphor.

A metaphor - this report into BBC coverage - said could be "easily misleading."

Why is the government trying to mislead the country?

And then secondly those defending those patriots scampering the country to tax havens are the same people who bemoan being ‘held hostage’ by teachers and doctors asking for a return to their real term wages of 15 years ago by going on strike.

Couple of things in the hypocrisy stakes caught my eye today

First up those same people cheering the farmers bringing gridlock to the streets because the poor cherubs are being asked to pay inheritance tax like the rest of us over £1m and in most cases £2m, are the very same cheering the beatings &

We need to move away from the idea that children "belong to" their parents. We all have an interest in children growing up happy and healthy.
"Children don't choose to be born & I don't think children should be punished or disadvantaged because their parents can't afford to put food on the table for them"

Dividends are taxed at marginal rates of 8.75%, 33.75%, and 39.35%, no national insurance is levied.

Wages taxed at 20%-45% +NIC.

Aligning taxation of dividends with wages could raise £6bn a year. Even higher if national insurance is also charged.

There are proposals to cancel Indefinite Leave to Remain.
That would tear families apart — including my own.
My wife could have been separated from her children under. People like my friend Tariq, who’ve lived here since babies, could be taken from their communities.

These people are Britain.

One of the best examples of Mamdani putting the message front and centre was that when he was asked "why should conservatives vote for you?", his response was: "they pay rent."

There are issues of common concern - affordability, crumbling public services - across the political divides.
It's not just about the messenger.

You've got to have the right message.

It seems to me to be gaslighting to describe a situation with constant shelling, where more than 200 Palestinians have been killed since the "ceasefire" began, as a ceasefire.
"Fragile ceasefire"? What ceasefire? Your own reporters describe "Constant Israeli artillery shelling... in southern Gaza while farms and houses being destroyed in eastern parts of Gaza City".
