This is an interesting article written from the perspective of Intelectual Property holders in the music industry who are analyzing the case between Reuters (owns Westlaw) and Ross (company who used Westlaw to train an AI).

Fair Use is very complex.

Using copyrighted content to train AI without permission is not ‘fair use’, US court rules in Thomson Reuters case - Music Business Worldwide
However, the ruling might not apply to the music industry’s lawsuits against generative AI developers.

Musk used Paypal as a launch vehicle for SpaceX and Tesla. Paypal makes $ from transaction fees.

I think Musk is looking to position himself to get contracts for becoming the govt's payment system. Taking a transaction fee off every gov transaction is huge money.

Opinion | There are several reasons Musk wants to control Treasury payments. None of them are good.

It seems so dumb that there is a strike zone box on TV for everyone to see except the home plate umpire, right?

This article talks about the challenges of implementing an automated system to call balls and strikes.

Automating anything is deceptively hard to do!

Good read here, I found this section interesting:

"The Labor Share of GDP Has Been Constant For 200+ Years"
AGI Will Not Make Labor Worthless by @mtabarrok.bsky.social

Fears about human labor getting replaced by machines go back thousands of years. These fears continue today in response to the rapid progress of AI in several previously secure human domains.

AGI Will Not Make Labor Worthless
The discovery and use of machinery may be … injurious to the labouring class, as some of their number will be thrown out of employment, and population will become redundant.

The Trump administration is expected to be softer on antitrust cases, which as we know are one of Sweeney's major pursuits.

my son needed help with 8th grade algebra homework. I couldn't remember how to distribute the powers.

Phone pic of his screen, upload to ChatGPT, asked it to explain how to solve the problem.

It read the image and gave me instructions for how to solve and the right answer.

AOC has been of the most on track in messaging of our representatives. Fires need oxygen, take the oxygen away and the fire goes out on its own. No need to cancel, just ignore!!
“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!
