Realized as the words were coming out of my mouth, how Carmen Maria Machado’s In the Dream, which I’ve taught a few times before, conveys the ways in which domestic violence is sustained through fantasy, perverting the uses of narrative and thus of world building. This is what I love about teaching.

The student newspaper at Ohio State (my alma mater and the paper were I began my career) confirms the men atop the student union in the viral photo were indeed ARMED SNIPERS from the State Highway Patrol, with loaded weapons trained on STUDENTS below.
