Anglican parish church. C12, C13, early C14, C15, restoration and minor additions by David Brandon 1872. Coursed squared and dressed limestone.

Vestry; ashlar, stone slate roof. Plan; nave with projecting porch on south, central tower with chapel on south chancel with vestry on north. Chancel rebuilt C13. C12 corbel table reused from former nave, with grotesque animal and beast's heads on north and south sides. South wall (from left to right) trefoil-headed lancet, C19 plank priest's door with decorative hinges within flat-chamfered pointed surround, scroll- moulded hood. Three-light hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned window with cinquefoil headed lights and Tudor-arched head with rosette stops right. Perpendicular 5-light east window. Trefoil-headed lancet in nave north wall. Vestry lit by C19 trefoil-headed lancets, trefoil light towards apex of gable. Three stage tower, lower stage C12, second (containing clock) C13, third stage C15. North side of tower buttressed and rebuilt at bottom c1840. Former access to tower from inside tower altered to external access via plank door up 5 stone steps within buttressing.

A pleasant Sunday after In the workshop producing some more tree bases for #Frostgrave #RoSD, #D&D or another #TTRPG.

MDF odd-shaped bases and some whittled square section timber to make tree trunks. Tenon saw pulled along the trunks to add texture

There’s a blue/grey backdrop and trees on both sides. The Empire hero is glad his garrison came back as he does t think he’d be able to hold off the orcs on his own. A low down view of the front of the fort whilst it’s being attacked by orcs. A couple of ladders have been placed up against the walls in the vein hope the orcs can actually climb them without arguing with each other. Another scenic view of the fort protecting a small river ford. Blue/grey backdrop again with verdant grasslands on either side of the river.

Detached Church tower and spire: late C13 tower, C14 spire; thin grey rubble walls with larger red-brown quoins: shingled spire. Square. Battered plinth with roll moulding to north face; square-set corner buttresses on left, octagonal stair turret on right with pilasters to north and west faces. 2-light geometric tracery window to upper level, with circular clock face above: lancet to stair turret to right. Slight eaves to broached octagonal spire: 2-light, square openings with timber louvres at low level, lean-to roofs. Ball finial and weathercock. East face has no plinth; square-set corner buttresses; chamfered, 2-centred arched opening to double boarded doors. Above 2 creasings for roof to demolished chapel: lancet window between with further lancet above with 2 stone louvres. Internally heavy timber beams carry floor over. Detached from church, (q.v.). Medieval chapel to east of spire re-roofed 1779, used as school 1710-1849, demolished 1862. Spire repaired with timber from casks in 1680. (Victoria County History, Gloucestershire, Vol. X, 1972; D. Verey, Gloucestershire, The Vale and the Forest of Dean, 1970). Listing NGR: SO7171313920

An overhead view of my Victorian riverside set up. The Thames is at the bottom looking very silty, there’s a tug docked against the side with a large warehouse behind it. In the right is a boats workshop that has a surrounding wall. On the left is a Fairburn crane on a stone plinth and behind that is another warehouse. There are a few bits of scatter placed here and there but the photo was taken before the game started so there’s no figures.

It's an amazing local phenomenon. The funnel shape of the Severn Estuary and high tides combine to produce a wave that surges up the Severn, travelling as far as Tewkesbury.
