One of my students died suddenly on Tuesday night. Since then has probably been the longest three days of my life. My school community has been beautiful about pulling together and supporting each other, but it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through.

I have been avoiding Amazon and trying to shift my ebook purchasing to bookshop.org. An anyone explain why some ebooks aren’t available there but are on Amazon?
Bookshop: Buy books online. Support local bookstores.
An online bookstore that financially supports local independent bookstores and gives back to the book community.

Democrats don’t need more power; they need more audacity.
Tommy Tuberville blocked military promotions for months while his party was in the minority and he can’t read or write
There’s a certain enraging doomer quality to the “there’s nothing the Democrats can do” posts and attitudes

If you are doing any kind of presentation and there is a microphone, please use it. It’s an important accessibility issue that trumps your comfort speaking into it. Even if people can hear you, you’re making it way harder and more tiring to listen to you.

I've been reading The Art of Quiet Influence (and it's good!) and it has me interested in kind of a side quest on Confucianism and particularly the idea of humane communities. Does anyone have a good tip for a non-expert friendly book on Confucianism?

I’m just her to renew my regular complaint about edtech companies that aren’t transparent about pricing (including curriculum). It doesn’t matter how amazing it is if it’s $$$ and no I don’t want to meet with you.
