I think the problem is people see businesses shrugging off 100%, 300%, and 500% increases to executive pay and they project that on to the businesses margin.
This is absolutely something I’ve found too. Particularly on the left, people tend to see businesses as endless pools of money, which can shrug off 2%, 3%, 5% cuts to margin with no trouble. It’s simply not true. Cut business margins and businesses die. Tradeoffs are very real here.

When the two groups are "people who learn" vs "people who don't learn" then there is no benefit to mixing the two.

Yes. If their ideas were actually "challenging" that would be interesting and worth engaging with. But they're not. They're just annoying, especially as so much of it is based on misrepresenting things over and over that take a while to show why they're misrepresented.
People getting blocked act like it’s because people are too challenged or offended by their ideas or something but maybe it’s just because you’re annoying.
