The winter months of 80-81 were tough. My wife and I became parents with the arrival of our daughter in Nov, and I needn't tell anyone who has children what that means in terms of lifestyle changes...like lack of sleep.1/4
Roland Deschain, the last gunslinger, stares contemplatively across the sea as waves gently lap the shore. Footprints can be seen in the damp sand leading to where he sits, pistol unstrapped at his hip and bedroll at his side. The sun hangs low but intense, blazing a line of orange across the horizon. Over a low stretch of wispy clouds, the silhouette of an asymmetrical tower rises dream-like in the sky. Odd projections mark the sides while spires of varying height sit atop the peak like chaotic crenelations.

A parent says to another parent "they don't want the homeless sleeping on the playground equipment so they've given it a hostile design." They observe a child perched at the top of a slide. The slide has dozens of large, sharp spikes sticking out of the sloping flat surface. The child trips on one and lands face first onto the spikes, instantly releasing massive quantities of blood with a GSSHH noise. The other parent obliviously states "well, the kids seem happy."

Just started Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and had to pause after only 30 seconds after wanting to reflect on the fact that this movie that smash cut explodes into literal nazis immediately was prefaced with the warning “CONTAINS TOBACCO DEPICTIONS”

A man in a cowboy hat and plaid button down says :you can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy." The man he's talking to produces a vacuum cleaner like device labelled "Country Sucker" and says "that's where you're wrong. The other man sucks the cowboy hat and plaid off the country boy's head and he is rendered a normal man. The vacuum man asks maliciously "how do you feel about dirt roads and the ol' swimmin' hole?" The formerly country boy looks at his hands in despair and says "I feel... I feel nothing."

A huge group of people are in a giant hole in the middle of a rolling field. There is a large sign with an arrow pointing to the hole that says "HOLE." Suddenly the group's attention turns to a new hole, complete with a giant sign with an arrow pointing to it that says "NEW HOLE." One person points to the new hole and says "hey look! Someone made a new hole!" The mass clamours out of the old hole and makes a bee-line toward the new hole. It's chaos. One person, now situated in the new hole says "this feels like how the old hole used to feel." Another person nods in agreement.
