to be fair “what’s the point of standards” is the motto of the free press
“I’ve been hearing that standards will be eliminated or severely cut back. Bari has told people that she wants to get rid of standards and is shocked that they have so much power. She also asked openly, ‘What’s the point of standards?’” one CBS source said.

I have to hand it to them, it's an incredible bit to publicly lose a game of chicken, admit that's what happened, and then spend the next day lecturing everyone about courage and tenacity

It’s okay because the Republicans promised to hold this exact same vote in a month
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

This deal keeps getting...exactly as bad as it looked like...all the time!
Buried inside the deal to reopen government is a provision that would give Senators private right of action to sue for millions in damages over their phone records being analyzed by Jack Smith's team.

The people who spent last night trying to rationalize why this was a good deal are going to run head first into this in a few weeks.
Agree.
Sen Hassan, asked what will happen if Republicans don't carry out the deal, "Well, shame on them."
This is not what people were mobilizing for on Oct 18.

Our offer is you don't give us our one singular demand we've insisted on this whole time, and also we'll make it easier for your most vulnerable members to say they voted for it anyway, so they can say that when we try to attack them over it. Brilliant strategy, guys.

A company that values itself at $500 billion is on track to lose $50 billion in a year. Color me skeptical.
ICYMI: Microsoft’s charge “implies a more than $12 billion quarterly loss at OpenAI, said Firoz Valliji, an analyst at Bernstein.”
That “would mark one of the largest single-quarter losses for a tech company in history.”
