It's nice to see so many options for adding commenting feature to websites these days. But it still seems almost like one needs to roll their own if they want a really barebones self-hosted option.

I’m not proud of not having used ChatGPT or whatever bc it’s … easy not to use it. Choosing not to use it has no impact on my day. Bc it’s not even good at the thing it’s supposed to be doing. It’d be like being proud of myself for not using a broken calculator to do math.

YES! That box full of "ancient" cables and adapters that I "should throw out" came in clutch today. DVI-D to HDMI so that I can connect my 2024 work MacBook to a screen that is almost 20 years old.

"It's a photograph of two men kissing."

And that's the correct answer.

One of my favourite feelings. When you are taking your dog for an early morning and it's really chilly. But then you step into the sun.
There is a moment at this time of year when the word ‘apricity’ really comes into view. For those who don’t know it, it was recorded only once, in 1623, before slipping out of view. Apricity is the warmth of the sun on a chilly day.

A lot of people put a piece of black electrical tape over the camera on their laptop. In the interest of transparency, I use Scotch tape.

watch out for this! for folks who don't know:

- windows+R opens the run window which lets you run any program
- ctrl+V pastes

so this puts some malicious command on your clipboard, then convinces you to run it yourself. don't.

Had a bit of free time on the weekend and wanted to try out TypeScript. After initial frustration with build tools, it's actually really nice. Created a simple quiz app for improving vocabulary. Try it out at: rihards.github.io/lexicon/ and source code at: github.com/rihards/lexi... #webdev

A discussion that is had quite frequently among friends, so it's excellent to hear someone knowledgeable talk about it. Listen in friends!
Can we ever separate art from the artist?

@rafaelbehr.bsky.social and @mbwillard.bsky.social tackle cancel culture, ethics, and the future of artistic legacy today on The Bunker.

Visiting a *very* nice and fancy library today to replace my library card which has stopped working. Also it's sooo much more than just a library. Oodi in Helsinki. #booksky

I've just found the best hack. Swear in your search request. It's a great way to bypass the AI summary and make your search history look like you're chronically pissed off at everything!

Man some days you just want to build a cabin and just live off the land. And also the cabin has WiFi and a PS5.

Interesting idea to use WordPress as a self hosting platform. Especially if you setup multisite network and use plugins to achieve functionality.

Main concern would be the performance. Especially if done on Synology / QNAP lower end devices.

Found just the right and very much needed resource I was looking for. The correct chronological order in which to watch Stargate docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

And if you care and always wanted a Pebble, do use the sign up form!
The Pebble is back.

Even if you don't care (like me) click on the "No" on "Do you want a new Pebble?". The animation is great. 👍🏻

Just finished my last Risk Identification Training lesson for the driver's license. I'm going to miss this nice man. We've been through so many Finnish "anecdotes" and "stories".

Driving school instructional videos are sometimes a gold mine. Captured this one earlier while doing the Risk Assessment training part of getting a driver's license.

And that's a wrap! I had seen the movie before reading the book, so no surprises there. However, what a journey, and how amazing the novel is, both story-wise and visually. Would highly recommend.

Once again an excellent episode from The Bunker Podcast. One (among quite a few) note that made me stop and wonder while listening, was the mention that most people stop learning history at 13/14 years of age 🤯
📳 NEW EPISODE 📳 Why did civilised Germany welcome Hitler’s message of hatred so fervently? @nndroid.bsky.social talks to historian Laurence Rees, writer of acclaimed BBC series The Nazis: A Warning From History, about his new book The #Nazi Mind.

Interesting. You can get a "This version of ChromeDriver only supports Chrome version ..." error in GitHub Actions when using "browser-actions/setup-chrome@v1" with both "chrome-version: stable" and "install-chromedriver: true".

The fix? Re-run the failed job.

Just found out about @librofm.bsky.social which looks to be a much better alternative to Audible (thanks #booksky), however it looks like not even a single bookstore in Finland has signed up to it. Yet anyway 🤔

I'm so glad that after four years I decided to give Disco Elysium another try. Something wasn't clicking years ago (me trying to min-max the game), but this time I played it without guides or tips, failing rolls frequently, getting into the lore, and in general having a blast. #DiscoElysium
