Amidst it all:

So nice to wake up to this thoughtful review of #GhostsofDistantTrees, by Elizabeth Austin for @hippocampusmag.bsky.social

"Ghosts...is a book about learning to see what’s really there, not what the postcard tells you to look for."

First, Valentine’s Day at Fireside Books in Palmer. Come say hi, talk about love and gravel and everything in between (a lot. There’s a lot in between)

Seriously. Watching randos say "well when *I* tore my ACL I was on the couch for a month & it still hurts" &...ok...? Had you spent the previous several decades flying down a mtn at 80mph & learning EXACTLY what part of your body does what in order to make that happen? No? Then maybe sit this out?
Seeing negativity about Lindsey Vonn that she shouldn’t have competed due to her age and it was hubris and she shouldn’t have been skiing on an injury, but:

- that’s ableist and ageist
- she was medically cleared
- she hooked the gate, extremely common error and totally unrelated to her ACL or age

I've spent a not insignificant & also not deeply rooted amt of time in the AZ borderlands, & CBP's recklessness is just a fact of life. I said they kick puppies BC THEY KICK PUPPIES. Their own mechanics are mad bc they bash up their vehicles for no good reason & drive like shit. Murder is CONSISTENT
The Melissa del Bosque tells KJZZ's Lauren Gilger she wasn't surprised by fatal Minneapolis shootings. Border Patrol operates with less oversight than local police, no body cameras, masked agents, self-investigations. A troubling pattern.

another thing i just said abt Bad Bunny (to my parents): "Something for everyone! If you like commentary on energy policy, it was for you, if you like booty shaking, it was for you!"

me, texting an elder friend who has questions about bad bunny grabbing his own crotch: "it's like the last way available to men to get slut shamed. just let him have it, don't worry about it"

***Abolish ICE giveaway raffle***

I’m inspired by the creative ways people are putting your arts and crafts to work to build power across geographies. So I’m gonna try this: a raffle to rehome some gently worn knits.

Dm me abt a donation made THIS WEEK (Monday, 2/2-9) to a mutual aid fund.

A yr ago today, at the prompting of @drbrapp.bsky.social, a group of us gathered in support of NPS employees, the name Denali, & anti-fascism. It was messy & cringe & impromptu. The normies came. (* 🧵 )

& since, bc of convos we’ve had, I’ve felt safer & stronger local connections than I had in yrs
