Keith Floyd would have been 82 today! We have his signed photo hanging in our kitchen for inspiration. Just making bubble n squeak with the Christmas leftovers. Mashed spuds, roast spuds, carrot, parsnip, swede, sprouts, kale, chestnuts. Yes, of course I have a large glass of red on the go! 🍷🍷

Dan Leno #BOTD 1860. Massive star of music hall in his day. The panto 'Mother Goose' was written for him! @musichallsociety.bsky.social

Actress Liz Smith was #BOTD 1921. She didn't really get started as an actress until around the age of 50 and considering that appeared in a huge amount of TV and films, including 'In Loving Memory' Christmas ep 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen'. Still shows Dad on far right.

I've not shared this flyer before! Dad in panto in Canterbury with Gerald Flood, Donald Hewlett and Michael Knowles in 'Babes in the Wood'. 1981-82 season. Seats from £2.20-£3.50! #Pantomime #ItsBehindYou #OhYesItIs!

The great Mel Smith was #BOTD in 1952. A huge talent taken far too soon. 'Colin's Sandwich' is one of the best sitcoms of the 1980's in my opinion.

What a pair of jokers!
Last night in Brighton I saw Count Arthur Strong in Charles Dance's 'A Christmas Carol'. As Usual the elusive Count buggered off after the show so once again was fobbed off with his PR bloke Steve Delaney. I feel a bit Chrismassy now which frankly I'm not happy about. @countarthurstrong.bsky.social

The late great Ken Dodd was #BOTD 98 years ago! The Max Miller society (of which I was a founder member) got Ken who was our patron to unveil a plaque on one of Max's houses in 2000. I still have those signed blue & white bloomers! #TattyBye! @musichallsociety.bsky.social @youngalison.bsky.social

Lunch on the beach at The Snack Shack, Dungeness on the Kent coast. THE BEST catch of the day fish and fried potatoes, NOT chips! Not licenced but you can take your own alcohol. Google 'Snack Shack Dungeness' for opening hours. You won't be disappointed. 👍🐟

Prunella Scales was a wonderful actress not only on telly but in the theatre. I saw her in a play about 30 years back, she had such a stage presence. RIP

This afternoon, on an overcast autumn sunday, you can just about make out a magnificently preserved old ruin. Well that's enough about me. Behind me is Rochester Castle.

The great Leonard Rossiter was #BOTD 99 years ago! If you look closely you can see the 2nd image is signed. I treasure it!

Happy birthday to actress Anneke Wills! Met her at Elstree Studios a few years back and reminded her of her first film 'Childs Play' which Dad was also in with her! Dad gave me his signed copy of her autobiography in which he gets a nice mention.

I won't keep banging on about turning 60 yesterday(Oh well I might do actually). Came across this nice enamel sign at village hall antiques thing. Dealer knocked off 60 quid! Rather serendipitous I thought! B'day prezzie to self. 2nd pic shows the true red colour c.1920's I think
