Did anyone read the article?

"he continued, again reiterating his belief that those questions 'should be handled by communities and by sports leagues, not politicians.'"

He is not even talking about banning trans women in sports. This outrage feels astroturfed.
Yeah, I'm never voting for Buttigieg even if he's the nominee. This is a bright line for me. You cave on trans issues and lend credence to bigots, it's over. I'm not letting the Dems go down the path of Labour.

The US is starting to look more and more like an elected monarchy.

The president is immune from anything he does while in office, he has absolute authority over gov agencies, and he can ignore the courts. Which means he can ignore the law and therefore Congress.

What is the name of this? A king.

Fucking ridiculous. The Supreme Court now allows the president to fire the heads of independent agencies that regulate corporations. Just not the chairman of the Fed though, because that would be catastrophic for the economy. Most bad faith court ever.
"The theory ginned up by the GOP justices to bless their expansive vision of presidential power has some real shortcomings. Taken for all its worth, it could allow POTUS to blow up the economy by firing the Fed chair. So they had to announce an absurd exception to it." — @leahlitman.bsky.social

I was initially supportive of Israel at the start of the war. But what they are doing to Gaza is sick.

But when I talk to pro palestine people here, they seem to think the attacks on Oct 7 were justified, or even good. Is that how pro palestine people feel?

Unironically they should buy up the domains for about 60 defunct local newspapers in swing states. Hire two reporters to write almost exclusively about highschool sports and new restaurants opening with every 10th article about how the local GOP is screwing over people.

MAGA Maoism. Forget markets exist and fuck up the economy for the sake of ideology.

What's more funny is manufacturing will only come back if imports become more expensive, so consumers will buy american. But Trump doesn't want prices to rise and yet still expects manufacturing to come back anyway.

ZELDIN: I understand you're an aspiring fiction writer. I see why.

SCHIFF: I understand your view that you can cut half of the agency and it won't affect people's health or their water or their air. That to me is a big fiction ... you could give a rat's ass about how much cancer your agency causes

What we need is not more news hosts or debate bros. We already have those and they deserve more support.

But what we desperately need is more normie creators who make non-political content, and every once in a while they mention politics. That's how Rogan started btw.
All the talk about a "liberal Rogan" got taken literally. Like we need just 1 guy who will be big online and save us.

It won't be one guy. The problem isn't just Rogan. It's the entire right-wing media with dozens of creators and millions of viewers who dominate everything.

Trump officials' showings at hearings today were disasters, but it doesn't make headlines bc the media's default assumption is that Rs are clownish rascals. But if Dems didn't know what was happening at their agencies or what habeas corpus is, it'd be front page news. This is a key media asymmetry.

Beware of people on the left who only want to look good, not do good.

People who attack others for not being progressive enough, but don't want to vote, don't want to organize or build coalitions. They want to pat themselves on the back for being "progressive" while ignoring those in need.

"President Lincoln executed habeas corpus".

"executed"

They are implementing newspeak to say habeas corpus is the opposite of what it is.

In the same hearing she said habeas corpus is the constitutional right of the president to remove people from the country.
KIM: Do you know what section of the Constitution the suspension clause of habeas corpus is in?

NOEM: I do not. Nope.

KIM: Do you know which article is it in?

NOEM: I do not, sir.

As with all "Nordic model" legislation, it actually takes away independence and agency and requires sex workers to work through third-parties.
